UKCG: WordPress Website and Content Management System (CMS)
The brief was to come up with a site capable of being informative and creative, whilst also being user friendly for the administrator through a variety of means of communications. As well as this it needs to be able to have secure private members areas to share information.
WordPress is the obvious choice for this, as it is able to combine many forms of programming and features whilst also being straight forward to use for the client. Widgets like Event Calendars and RSS Feeds give the viewer all the information they may need.
All hosting and website configuration was also handled by Waingroove Designs.
To start the job from scratch, a Logo design was also commissioned and layouts for complimentary stationery and other media to promote the UK Canyon Guides. Take a look at the images below to see design detail, or follow the link http://canyonguides.org to see the live site in action.
Opening statement from the UKCG website:
“UK Canyon Guides has been set up to provide recreational canyoneers and canyon guides with all the current best practices available.
Canyoning, Gorge walking or gill scrambling in the UK has enjoyed a tremendous surge in popularity over the past few years. Most commercial outdoor companies now offer some kind of canyoning, gorge walking or gill scrambling with thousands of clients and individuals taking part in this great sport.
We Aim to :-
- Provide comprehensive training and assessment courses giving the industry a structured and usable training programme.
- Provide rigging solutions for canyons.
- Bring together the UK canyoneering community.
- Provide technical advise for outdoor companies.
- Organise workshops and rendezvous.
- Create an online canyon, gorge walking guide.
UK Canyon Guides has been set up to provide recreational canyoneers and canyon guides with all the current best practices available. This site has been set up and developed to create a community of information to aid with the development of UK Canyoning.”
